Spiral tubes for growing veg in small spaces

Whirligro is an ingenious spiral shaped plant container that makes growing food, herbs and flowers easier for people who lack space. It can be used in gardens, on balconies, decking, flatroofs or anywhere.

Designed primarily for fast-growing leaf crops, Whirligro uses durable, transportable growing tubes that spiral around a central post, making it possible to grow 30 plants in an area smaller than one meter by one meter.

The plants grow in soil or compost through holes in the plastic tubing, which keeps weeds at bay. And because the plants are off the ground they are harder for ground-based pests such as slugs and snails to get to.

Watering can be done by hand or with a small drip irrigation system. Whirligro units cost from GBP 55 to GBP 140, depending on size.
