Miscanthus sinensis ‘Second Wind’

Miscanthus sinensis ‘Second Wind’ is a new Japanese Silver Grass introduced by Intrinsic Perennial Gardens, Inc.

Recently launched, it is currently available in the Chicagoland area (USA) via Song Sparrow mail order. Plants can also be purchased in Denmark and Germany (Europe) at the time of writing. The variety will become more widely available soon.

This re-blooming grass initially blooms early September with flowers drying a fluffy plume. A second set of fresh cinnamon red colored flowers bloom underneath toward the end September.

These substantial clumping plants have broad foliage with a silver stripe down the middle reaching 7’+ tall and prefer a well drained soil in full sun. Their US hardiness is zone 5-9.
